In “I wish I was” the player takes the form of a ghost, not remembering his past and not being able to escape from the dungeon-like place it finds itself in. Through text-based puzzles the player learns more about the past of the protagonist and progresses further finding more puzzle-solutions along the way. The theme revolves heavily around personal experiences but is just vague enough so the players can make their own meaning of the game.

The game is inspired by old text-adventures of the 80s and 90s but also classic dungeon-crawler type games. Both of those genres are very dear to my heart but most of them revolve more about monster slaying and fighting than calming story-telling. I’ve decided to mix both those genres together but lay the focus on narration and puzzles.
