“Demoncracy” is a game about politics, lies and monsters. Two players can connect with AirConsole to a big screen and play against each other. Together with Anna-Lena Pontet and Kevin Egli we’ve created “Demoncracy” for a multiplayer-class in university. We’ve chosen a monster theme after seeing an article comparing Republicans and Democrats to Zombies and Vampires and felt it was fitting.

Both players fight for the desirable position of becoming the next president of the monster-town they find themselves in. In the first phase both players alternately choose one voter-card until all cards are drawn. With the second phase starts the voting process. Both parties want to gain as many followers as possible. To do just that they have to work together - at least partly. Each round the players are faced with a number which they have to collectively reach by playing one card out of their hand each. If the number is not achieved then the player that had the higher number loses points. If they surpass the given number the person with the higher number gains points.

Before playing their cards, the players can discuss what card they will be playing. Lying is allowed - if not even promoted. “Demoncracy” is a game about deceiving, trust and politics.
